The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been been one of the brightest sparks in what is developing into a fantastic season for the Rojoblancos with his performances contributing to them climbing to the top of the Spanish top flight and the semi-finals of the Champions League.

And as with any young talent drawing attention to himself through his good performances on the pitch, speculation surrounding his future has followed intently.

Manchester United are reported to have been monitoring his situation for some time, and a big-money approach has been mooted as David Moyes prepares to undertake an Old Trafford rebuilding project.

However, the player has reaffirmed his desire to stay and pointed to his recent new contract that will carry him through till 2018 as the main indicator to what his plans are.

“I am very happy and I do not think about leaving the club right now,” Koke told Marca.

“I am happy at home, I want to continue here and that is why I have a long contract.

“The rumours in the paper will have no impact on my game. I am young, but I am calm.

“Now is the best moment to enjoy being at Atletico. My future here will be long.”
