Chelsea Striker May Join Everton Next Season, Claims Roberto Martinez

Belgium has been a great success at Goodison Park in this campaign.

Everton head coach Roberto Martinez thinks that on-loan Chelsea front man Romelu Lukaku is enjoying himself so much at Goodison Park this season that the giant Belgium may now opt to stay on Merseyside this summer after all, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The striker is currently spending a season-long loan with the Merseyside giants from the west London club, although the 20-year-old is still expected to return to Stamford Bridge when that spell comes to an end at the climax to this campaign.

However, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho still expected to offload the Belgium international when the summer transfer window reopens for business at the start of July, Everton are understood to remain hopeful of landing the player on a permanent basis next season.

And in particular, the Toffess manager believes that the enjoyment that the forward is having at present with the Merseysiders means that Lukaku may now decide to stay at the club going forward.

“He’s a grounded and intelligent young man, who is not going to be swayed by the materialistic aspect of the game,” said Martinez.

“What can we offer him? Just enjoying his football.

“As a player, happiness is something that is very important. When you can offer football happiness it’s an incredible opportunity.”
