The France international is out of contract this summer, but United are believed to be willing to offer him a small increase on his £85,000 per week deal with the view of a rolling review based on performance.

Last summer United boss David Moyes had been targeting Leighton Baines of former club Everton, leading to speculation suggesting that the 32-year-old’s time at Old Trafford was coming to an end.

But with Baines now committing his future to the Toffees, Moyes has apparently had a change of heart and is looking to convince the veteran full-back to stick around.

There are still a number of top clubs circling around Evra, though, with the likes of Inter Milan and Monaco still intent on bring him back to mainland Europe to help them challenge for domestic and European honours.

Evra’s decision could also have a huge impact on whether the club elide to move for Southampton starlet Luke Shaw as they had been credited as one of three clubs in the race to take the youngster away from St Mary’s.
