Frenchman is the Magpies’ top scorer this campaign.

La Liga table-toppers Atletico Madrid have now joined Arsenal, among a whole host of big-name clubs from across the Continent, in the race to sign Queens Park Rangers front man Loic Remy next season, according to reports in the Newcastle Chronicle.

The prolific France international is currently spending a season-long loan spell with mid-table Premier League outfit Newcastle United, however, Remy is still expected to leave St James’ Park when that comes to an end at the climax to this campaign.

But with Remy not then expected to remain with the west London club next season, many of Europe’s top clubs are now said to be lining up trying to win the player’s signature when the summer transfer window finally reopens for business at the start of July.

And one of those potentials suitors is said to be La Liga leaders Atleti, who themselves are looking for a new striker with star man Diego Costa expected to quit the Vicente Calderon at the end of this season.

“Clubs are currently discussing with my agent, I am open to everything,” said Remy on the weekend.

“I would like to rejoin a top European club to challenge myself at the highest level.”
