Atletico Madrid Striker Diego Costa Fit To Face Chelsea In Champions League Semi-Finals Despite Horror Injury

Brazilian had looked set to miss the key clash after horror injury on the weekend.

Prolific Atletico Madrid front man Diego Costa looks like being fit enough to take on Premier League giants Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Uefa Champions League later this month, despite the Brazil-born attacker being stretchered off with a nasty-looking leg injury against Getafe on Sunday, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Spain international picked up the knock after colliding heavily with the post while scoring the visitors’ second goal in their vital 2-0 win at the El Coliseum Alfonso Perez which keeps Diego Simeone’s men at the top of the La Liga standings, although Atleti now have a three-point advantage over city-rivals Real Madrid following champions FC Barcelona’s shock loss on Saturday.

However, Simeone and Co will be equally relieved to hear that Costa should be fit enough to take his place up front against minnows Elche in the league on Friday night, before the Spaniards then entertain Chelsea the Vicente Calderon four days later.

“Relax everyone. It’s all OK. Just need to fix the post,” said Atleti press officer Jose Luis Pasques on Twitter on Sunday night.

“Costa is fine, he is happy,” added Simeone after the match. “He made a great effort throughout. One more cut does not do anything to this tiger.”
