The pair have been removed as rumours of a dressing room bust up rumble under the surface, though the club, nor anybody from the club has confirmed the reason for their suspension.

However, the club’s statement alluded to something going on behind the scenes as it read;

The Club can confirm that Gordon Cowans and Shay Given have been temporarily promoted to assist manager Paul Lambert and his first team coaching staff.

The Club can also confirm in response to media speculation that Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa have been suspended pending an internal investigation.

Gordon Cowans has been a long time associate of the club, playing for them during the ’80s and ’90s before going on to coach the side’s youth sides, which he has been doing terrifically for the past couple of years.

Shay Given is a rookie to the world of coaching. He spent a part of the season on loan with Middlesbrough after losing his place to Brad Guzan, but will now assist Paul Lambert with the running of the squad until the end of the season.
