The Poland international’s current deal at the Emirates only runs until the end of June and it was widely expected that the goalkeeper would quit the north Londoners this summer in order to move to a club that would offer the 28-year-old more regular first-team openings.

In fact, following Fabianski’s penalty shoot-out heroics in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final win over Wigan Athletic, the Pole hinted that the final against Hull City at Wembley Stadium next month could very well be his last game for the Gunners.

However, it is now understood that the highly rated Pole could perform a dramatic U-turn and instead opt to stay in the capital next season after all and fight with compatriot Wojciech Szczesny for the No 1 spot, but only if Wenger can offer him more chances in the first team though.
