Chelsea look set to win the race to bring in in-form La Liga goal machine Costa and now Arsene Wenger will focus on luring Croatian Mandzukic.

The 27 year old former Wolfsburg man has been in fine form since moving to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2012 but the imminent arrival of Robert Lewandowsi from Borussia Dortmund is sure to impact on his role in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven.

This source believes a bid in excess of £20m for Mandzukic may be considered by the Bavarian club and the powerful forward is well worth such an offer.

Mandzukic netted 22 goals in his debut season at Bayern Munich and already has 24 goals to his name in all competitions this term.

Wenger is keen to offer more effective support for overworked Frenchman Olivier Giroud and despite his brace against West Ham last night German Lukas Podolski may well be playing for his Arsenal future after a less than glorious season at the Emirates Stadium.
