Chelsea will enter the race for highly rated Everton defender John Stones with Jose Mourinho perhaps looking to replace veteran centre-back John Terry.

The Daily Mail claim that the Blues boss is interested in the 19 year old Toffees star, who could well be a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup finals squad.

Goodison Park boss Roberto Martinez will no doubt fight tooth and nail to keep Stones, who David Moyes signed from Barnsley back in January 2013.

Stones has made 24 appearances this term and has been particularly impressive in recent weeks, starting all the club’s recent fixtures in a seven match winning run that has led to the Merseyside club challenging for fourth spot.

Indeed Roberto Martinez may be a victim of his own success with a number of his top performers being strongly linked with Goodison Park exits.

The likes of Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines will no doubt be wanted men and Martinez will also lose the services of loaned in trio Gareth Barry, Gerard Deulofeu and Romelu Lukaku.

Mourinho can call upon the likes of Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Branislav Ivanovic if he chooses to not offer Terry a new contract when his current deal expires this summer.
