The Reds are reportedly lining up a big-money move for the highly rated new England international for when the summer transfer window does finally reopen again at the start of July.

However, when asked about such speculation, the Spaniard responded by dismissing the story out of hand, saying: “In terms of speculation, we already turned down a £50m bid from (Manchester) United so we’re not going to take £38m from Liverpool.

“It’s quite enjoyable to speak about speculation because it shows how well our players are doing. That’s the type of football compliments we want.”

The playmaker has managed to register an impressive seven goals and two assists in total in his 37 matches in all competitions for both club and country so far this campaign, including five strikes and one assist in his 30 Premier League outings for the Merseyside giants.

And it is those kind of eye-catching attacking numbers that have alerted the attentions of some of Everton’s biggest rivals to the 20-year-old wonderkid.

However, with a contract at Goodison Park that currently runs until the end of June 2016, the Toffees and Martinez are under no pressure to offload the coveted Englishman any time soon.
