David Moyes is ready to shell out a massive £30m for England international Shaw who is seen by the Scot as a long term replacement for exit bound Frenchman Patrice Evra.

Shaw has matured into a consistent defender, who is as able and adept going forward as he is calm and composed at the back, Man United are willing to offer the 18 year old an £80k a week deal.

Chief executive Ed Woodward wants to bring in Shaw before the 2014 World Cup finals with the Saints left-back likely to be in Roy Hodgson’s squad and will also look to complete a deal to bring in Portuguese international Carvalho to offer Man United some much needed steel in the centre of the park.

Man United have already begun negotiations with Sportin Lisbon and have scouted tough tackler Carvalho on a number of occasions this season though hope to bring in the 21 year old at a price lower than his inflated £37m release clause.

A move for Carvalho could well lead to Marouane Fellaini being used in a more attacking role which could prove more suitable for the Belgian, who has struggled to impress when used as a holding midfielder.
