The 35 year old Toffees star has been in fantastic form this season but could perhaps be tempted by a move to Arsenal, especially if they managed to edge the Goodison Park side for a Champions League berth.

Fabianski, who has been in excellent form in cup action, is said to be likely to leave the Emirates Stadium when his current contract expires this summer and Arsene Wenger could see Howard as the man to adequately challenge young Pole Wojciech Szczesny for the Gunners starting spot.

Howard left Man United for Everton back in 2007 and has barely missed a game since, racking up 342 appearances for the Merseyside club.

Arsene Wenger’s side will be thankful to Crystal Palace who last night defeated Everton to help keep Arsenal one point clear of Roberto Martinez’s side in the race for fourth.

If Arsenal can secure that spot as well as an FA Cup triumph against Hull City then Wenger may well have retrieved something from a season that promised far far more when they were sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table around the turn of the year.
