PSG, AS Monaco an Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on luring the former Lorient man away from the Emirates Stadium.

Koscielny’s current contract sees the French international earn £50k a week whilst the likes of Per Mertesacker pulls on £90k a week and back-up defender Thomas Vermaelen is paid £70k a week and as such Arsenal are keen to reward their first team regular with a new deal.

Arsene Wenger will hope he can persuade Koscielny to commit to the club though he has previously discussed his desire to win major honours, stating;

“I want to lift trophies and to have a winning record. I hope the club will give me the means. If this weren’t the case, I’d look elsewhere. I want to win titles and I hope the club have the means.

“I feel good at Arsenal and if the club can compete with the best, I have no reason to leave. But if it fights every year for Champions League qualification it’s hard psychologically to be under such constant pressure.”

Arsene Wenger will also look to convince Bacary Sagna to put pen to paper on a new deal with his current contract set to run out this summer.
