After being denied regular first team football at Stamford Bridge, Romeu returned to his homeland last summer and has made an impression at Valencia, competing in both La Liga and the Europa League.
Valencia remain in contention for a top-six finish this term, while they have also made their way through to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
And though Romeu has claimed that Los Che are keen to keen him around beyond the end of the current campaign he is fully aware that the final decision rests with his parent club in west London.
“I’m very happy here,” he said.
“The latest we know is that Valencia are happy with me and they would like me to stay. I’m very comfortable here, but we’ll have to wait until the end of the season.
“I still have a year on my contract and anything can happen. It’s up to Chelsea to decide.”
