Reports in Italy have claimed that Roma coach Rudi Garcia has targeted the Spurs ace to replace current superstar Miralem Pjanic as rumours of him joining Paris Saint Germain this summer continue to persist.

However, the stories linking Paulinho to Roma are saying that it will be a one year loan deal with the view to a permanent deal at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

The 25-year-old only joined the White Heart Lane outfit last summer, but has been just one of several stars that the club brought in who have failed to perform to the required standard this term.

Paulinho, who joined for £17m less than a year ago, has scored six goals in 33 appearances for Tim Sherwood’s side and has recently voiced his concern over his boss’ rotation policy, which saw him start just one Premier League match in March.

Spurs are already drawing up a shopping list of potential new players to take over from the flops that currently permeate their squad.
