The north London club are apparently already in contact with the Bernabeu side in relation to their interest in midfielder Casemiro and young forward Alvaro Morata, who are valued at a combined £17m by this source, a price that seems reasonable given the potential the duo possess.

Brazilian Casemiro moved to the Spanish capital in January 2013 and impressed when representing the club’s second string but is still to register his first La Liga start though this hasn’t prevented a host of clubs taking an interest in his services, with Arsenal having to battle Inter Milan in pursuit of the 22 year old.

Morata is another player who has struggled to retain a foothold in Carlo Ancelotti’s first team set-up but despite making just one La Liga fixture the Spanish Under 21 international has still managed to net six goals.

There is certainly a case for strengthening the Arsenal attack and a move for Morata would not only provide Wenger a fresh striking option but would also adhere to his youthful transfer policy.
