The France international’s future at the north London club has been in some doubt for over a year now, and with the player’s current contract with the Gunners set to run out at the end of June, and there still no resolution between the two parties regarding a new deal, Sagna’s days as an Arsenal player have appeared to be numbered as we reach the end of the campaign.

However, it is believed that there has now been a breakthrough of sorts in negotiations, with the north Londoners having bowed to their full back’s original demands regarding the length of contract on offer, as well as the size of the Frenchman’s weekly wage packet going forward in the capital.

Sagna, 31, had been seeking a three-year deal on £70,ooo per week, which are the same terms that he is being offered by the likes of Galatasaray and Inter Milan, with Arsenal now said to be prepared to match those terms in an effort to keep Sagna at the club.
