Former Malaga man Monreal is struggling to retain a foot-hold in the Gunners first team set-up with Kieran Gibbs being the Arsenal first choice in the left-back spot.
Monreal has made just ten Premier League starts and may therefore be tempted by a fresh challenge this summer and a move to the Italian capital may be of interest to the Spanish international.
Arsene Wenger could well consider such an offer as he can also call upon Belgian Thomas Vermaelen to act as a back-up to Gibbs.
Monreal would reunite with former Arsenal man Gervinho, who has greatly enjoyed his first season at AS Roma, during which he has scored eight Serie A goals and is currently the leading assist maker in the Italian top tier.
