The prolific Colombia international has once again be hitting the back of the net with great regularity this season, so much so that a number of Premier League clubs in particular are understood to have expressed an interest in signing the player for next season.

These include the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, while just this week Manchester United manager David Moyes was also spotted in the crowd at the Estadio da Luz running his eye over Martinez in his club’s the Portuguese Cup semi-final second leg clash with arch-rivals Benfica.

Martinez, 27, has enjoyed another great campaign in front of goal for the Portuguese giants, netting an impressive 27 goals in just 47 games in total in all competitions, while overall since first arriving at the club the striker has managed to score 58 times in only 86 contests.

However, despite recent reports to the contrary, Martinez’s agent Guglielmo Lara has now denied recent speculation claiming that Porto and Roma had already entered into discussions regarding the sale of Martinez to the Romans this summer.

“Roma are a great club, without doubt, but Porto haven’t started any talks for a sale at this moment,” Lara told TMW.

“The situation is critical, as Porto are concentrated only on this final stage of the season. This other issue will be evaluated later on.”
