Sources close to the club claim that Hernandez has sought out talks with Moyes on three separate occasions this term to discuss his frustration at being reduced to just five starts in the Premier League this season.

The Mexican has been told the club will listen to offers in the summer and feels he is no longer in Moyes’s plans having fallen behind Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old is now likely to be used as a makeweight in a potential deal to bring Diego Costa to the club, as he has already been linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid on numerous occasions.

Hernandez was upset with his manager after being left out of the starting line up to take on Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League tie just days after scoring in their 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The former Guadalajara forward, who cost £8 million in 2010, is worried about a lack of sharpness going into the World Cup and looks set to join a summer exodus from Old Trafford.
