The 30 year old has just over a year to run on his current contract and with no new deal on the table the possibility of a move to Stamford Bridge would surely tempt the former Arsenal and Man City man.

Adebayor’s form since Tim Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas has been exemplary with the experienced forward scoring 13 goals in 21 appearances and making up for the obvious failings of summer signings Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado.

Mourinho will be looking to strengthening his own failing attack with both Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o set to see their current deals end in the summer and Fernando Torres certainly a possible exit bound Blues forward.

Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer of Adebayor and has previously brought in the powerful marksman on a loan spell during his tenure as Real Madrid boss.

No doubt Chelsea would have little problem meeting Adebayor’s well documented wage expectations and the chance to perform in the Champions League will certainly be another motivating factor.
