Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini is said to be readying a move for Athletic Bilbao attacker Iker Muniain with a €18m (£14.8m) bid in the offing according to Goal.com.

The 21 year old has a little over a year to run on his current contract and could be available for a cut-price fee far below his reported €50m (£41m) release clause.

Athletic Bilbao are attempting tie down the Spanish international to a new deal but there are fears he may look to run down his deal in a similar manner to former forward Fernando Llorente, who left for Juventus on a free transfer last summer.

Man City are ready to offer Muniain a big pay-rise and are confident of landing the Pamplona born starlet.

Muniain could join a host of his fellow national team colleagues at the Etihad Stadium where he would line-up alongside the likes of David Silva and Jesus Navas.

As well as looking to bring in new additions Pellegrini is apparently ready to offload Gareth Barry, Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell.

Despite his tender years Muniain has already racked up over 200 appearances for his Basque side.
