Newcastle United are set to make a summer move for Chelsea forward Demba Ba who is set to see his Blues contract expire this summer.

The Daily Mail claim that the Magpies will offer 28 year old a contract at the end of the current campaign and will hope that the Senegalese international is interested in a return to St James’ Park.

Ba left the north-east for west London in a £7m deal back in January 2013 and though he has been rarely used the Chelsea man has hit a good run of form of late.

The Blues back-up man has scored four goals in his past six fixtures, including crucial goals away at Swansea City and at home to PSG though as yet no new deal is on the table.

Alan Pardew has been overly reliant on loaned in forward Loic Remy this term and will need to consider bringing a permanent goal-scoring option to replace the QPR man.

Prior to his move to Chelsea Ba scored 29 goals in 58 appearances.
