Barcelona are considering a move to sign Newcastle United custodian Tim Krul just as long as their transfer ban is lifted.

The Daily Mirror claim that the Nou Camp side are looking for keeping additions with both Victor Valdes and Jose Pinto set to leave the Catalan club.

Juventus are also keen on Krul, who has proved reliable between the sticks despite Newcastle United’s poor run over recent months.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has no qualms about selling his top performers, indeed his decision to cash in on Yohan Cabaye has directly led to the club’s woeful form.

Krul moved to St James’ Park in 2005 and has made 141 appearances for the north-east side.

Both Pinto and Valdes are set to see their contracts expire this summer and as such the La Liga side were no doubt counting on bringing in two replacements, with Barcelona also pursuing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marc-Andre ter-Stegen.

As well as the pair of keepers Barcelona veteran Carles Puyol was also expected to leave at the end of the season though all three may well be encouraged to sign new deals so as to not leave the club short of options if their transfer ban is indeed upheld.
