The experienced Cameroon international only joined the west London club from mega-rich Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala at the beginning of this campaign on a one-year rolling contract for an undisclosed fee.

However, despite the fact that Eto’o has so far easily been the most successful in front of goal of all the strikers on display at Stamford Bridge, it is still expected that Blues head coach Jose Mourinho will part company with the 33-year-old this summer.

In total, the Cameroonian has managed to register 14 goals and seven assists in his 40 matches in all competitions for the west Londoners, including nine strikes and five assists in his 21 Premier League outings for the club.

And now it is understood that Besiktas have stepped up their efforts to lure Eto’o to Istanbul when the summer transfer window does finally reopen again for business at the start of July after representatives from the Turkish giants recently flew to the capital to begin talks with the attacker over a £6.5m-a-year deal.
