The brilliant Belgium international suffered a calf injury early on in the west London club’s dramatic quarter-final second-leg win over Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge last month.

And initially, it was expected that the wide man would be out of action for just two weeks, which would have enabled Hazard to take part in Saturday’s Premier League home clash with struggling Sunderland.

However, with the 23-year-old having been forced to train away from the rest of his Blues team-mates at the club’s Cobham HQ on Monday morning, with the star only taking part in a light work out in the gym with a Chelsea physio, there must now be huge doubts as to whether the Belgium will be fit enough to make his long-awaited return in the Spanish capital on Tuesday, with boss Mourinho set to make a late decision on his possible inclusion.
