Their has been growing speculation over the 24 year old’s future at Old Trafford with the England man concerned about his lack of first team action.

This season has proven Welbeck’s most prolific to date but this hasn’t resulted in a significant upturn in first team starts, indeed the locally born striker has started just 13 of Man United’s 35 Premier League fixtures though has still managed to score nine times.

Arsene Wenger is keen to bring in fresh striking options this summer and may feel Welbeck has the potential to make a real impact at the Emirates Stadium.

Olivier Giroud has been overworked for much of the current campaign though in recent weeks Lukas Podolski has started to deliver in terms of an increased goal tally.

Welbeck may be tempted by a fresh challenge as he is currently behind both Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in the Man United pecking order and a lot could depend on whether his side look to bring in a fresh striking option of their own, which would perhaps make it abundantly clear that he is fighting a losing battle at the club.
