The Brazilian midfielder took to Twitter before Saturday’s game against Premier League strugglers Fulham to inform fans that he had not been left out because of injury.

And Sherwood sought to confirm the player’s statement after the victory over the west London side, and went on to elaborate exactly why he isn’t featuring much at the moment.

“What he’s stating is correct, he’s not selected at the moment,” Sherwood said.

“I don’t think he’s good enough to be in the side at the minute, when he shows me he’s up to the level of the other players he’ll be back in the squad.

“I like Sandro as a player but he has to work hard to be back in the side.”

Sandro then appeared to reply to his manager’s statement with a super professional ‘lol lol lol’, though it has been unconfirmed as to whether that was directed at the temporary manager.
