Former Nottingham Forest wide man Bryan Roy believes that Netherlands national team boss Louis van Gaal would be a “revelation” as manager of Premier League champions Manchester United, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

Roy worked under the Dutchman during his time as a player with Eredivisie giants Ajax, and so knows Van Gaal well, and he feels that his compatriot would be the ideal choice to take over from the recently departed David Moyes in the Old Trafford hot seat this summer.

And what is more, Roy also feels that Van Gaal, despite now being 62, does still retain the appetite for taking on such a huge role as the one at the Thetare of Dreams, while he also goes on to say that the former Ajax, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich trainer has always dreamed of one day being in charge of the Red Devils.

“He has definitely still got the hunger,” said Roy.

“I think he will die on the pitch, because he will never retire. He loves the job too much.

“He will never turn down Manchester United, believe me. I think it’s the job he really wants. And he will be a revelation at Manchester United.”

Moyes was given his marching orders by United at Carrington on Tuesday morning, despite the Scot having only taken on the position at the end of the previous campaign following the shock and sudden departure of previous boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
