The Brazilian accepted the Football Association’s charge of violent conduct for the incident, which referee Mike Dean missed, in the Blues’ 2-1 defeat on Saturday, and you can see the incident again here.

Ramires was handed a three game suspension for the punch and given a further one match ban for his horror tackle on Aston Villa’s Karim El Ahmadi last month, which also earned him a red card.

The 27-year-old will now miss the club’s remaining three fixtures in the Premier League this season and one further domestic game at the start of the 2014/15 campaign.

The news will come as a further blow for boss Jose Mourinho as his side prepare to meet current league leaders Liverpool on Monday night in what could be a pivotal encounter to decide where the title ends up this year.

However, he will still be available for the club’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid next week, as well as the final should they make it there.
