The highly rated young England international had been expected to move to the west London club next season, with Shaw known to be a Blues fan, while his parents also live close to the club’s Cobham training ground.

However, it is now understood that it was the former Red Devils head coach David Moyes who has managed to persuade the 18-year-old to move to Old Trafford rather than Stamford Bridge when the summer transfer window opens, with United preparing a five-year deal worth a staggering £100,000 per week in order to entice Shaw to sign for them.

And with Chelsea said to be unwilling to match those financial numbers, it now appears as though there could finally be some good news on the horizon for United and their beleaguered supporters with the imminent arrival of the English defensive starlet.

Meanwhile, it is also believed that veteran Frenchman Patrice Evra will also now stay in the north west next season after all to act as Shaw’s understudy.
