The 22-year-old has been touted as one of European football’s brightest young defenders after attracting interest thanks to some composed and assured displays for Swiss side FC Basel this season.
Schar is already a fully established international with Switzerland as his commanding displays are linking him with a move to a bigger side when the transfer window reopens later on in the summer.
Roma are the latest side to show a strong interest in the centre-back, as they continue to deal with speculation about one of their own impressive players, Mehdi Benatia.
The Moroccan international only arrived in the Italian capital last summer from fellow Serie A side Udinese, but is already being linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United both said to be interested in landing his services.
Schar will likely attract more interest from a number of sides in the run up to the summer as he will undoubtedly impress at the World Cup, and Roma coach Rudi Garcia will be keeping an eye on him with the hope of beating Arsenal to his signature.
