One wonders if such a move would excite the Primeira Liga side given how little action the 25 year old has seen since moving to Stamford Bridge.
The pint sized wide-man started just two Premier League fixtures in his first season at Chelsea and has made just eight La Liga starts during his season long loan spell at Sevilla.
Man United are also keen on Carvalho, who’s Sporting Lisbon contract is said to contain a release clause that can be triggered by an offer of £36m, clearly a price Chelsea are looking to cover with the use of a player swap deal.
Carvalho has been excellent this term, helping his side split Benfica and FC Porto in the domestic table, and his value may just skyrocket if he impresses at the 2014 World Cup finals.
