Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea forward Fernando Torres with White Hart Lane technical director Franco Baldini eyeing up a move for the Spaniard according to Football Direct News.

Having seen summer signings Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado fail to make an impact and with Jermain Defoe leaving for MLS side Toronto FC the lion’s share of the goal-scoring burden has been shouldered by Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor, who has been very impressive since Tim Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas.

Whilst there is no denying that Spurs could do with fresh striking options one would have to wonder just how likely they would be to target Chelsea marksman Torres.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich invested a British record £50m to land Torres back in January 2011 and he has proven to a massive flop, scoring just 19 goals in 107 Premier League appearances and the 30 year old is in the middle of yet another goal-scoring drought with the Chelsea man failing to net in his last ten top tier fixtures.

Jose Mourinho would no doubt look to sell Torres and one wonders just how much of the £50m outlay they will hope to recoup for the Chelsea man but a move back to La Liga seems more likely than a switch across London.
