Whilst Liverpool have had no issues finding the back of the net keeping clean sheets has been something of a problem and Rodgers believes former Tottenham man Caulker could be the solution to the problem.

22 year old England international Caulker moved to join the Bluebirds in a £9m deal last summer but with his side struggling to beat the drop there is every chance the youngster would look to consider his options, though former club Tottenham are believed to have first option to re-sign the player.

Rodgers worked with Caulker whilst at Swansea City and may feel he is a more able partner for Martin Skrtel than the likes of Daniel Agger and Kolo Toure though he would not come cheap as Spurs stand to receive a hefty portion of any fee Liverpool would have to pay Cardiff City.

Liverpool have conceded 44 Premier League goals this term, six other teams have let in less including Crystal Palace, so one can well see why Rodgers would seek to shore up his defence.
