It’s a deal that is sure to leave some Man United fans scratching their heads whilst others may simply detest the possibility of a former Etihad Stadium star joining their ranks.

Whilst Balotelli’s return to Italy has been dogged by off field issues and on-field spats the 23 year old has been scoring at a healthy rate and clearly has bags of ability as well as the potential to further improve.

The Italian international moved to AC Milan in January 2013 and despite his side’s struggles, the Rossoneri failing to secure a Champions League spot for next term, Balotelli has racked up 26 goals in 35 Serie A starts.

There has been much speculation about Robin Van Persie’s future at Man United but that was chiefly down to an apparently frosty relationship with former boss David Moyes, now that the Scot has been axed there would appear to be no pressing reason why the former Arsenal man would leave to join AC Milan.

However it should be noted that Van Persie is a good friend of current San Siro boss Clarence Seedorf, mind you he is also said to have a good relationship with Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal, who is hotly tipped to take over at Man United.

Balotelli spent two and a half seasons at Man City during which time he scored 30 goals in 80 appearances, of which 31 were from the bench.
