The 21-year-old has become a regular fixture for the Bundesliga side this term, bagging two goals and one assist in 28 appearances to accompany his solid defensive displays.

And those displays have now caught the attentions of a number of sides from across Europe and it is believed that Tottenham are the side to be leading the charge to land his signature.

The White Heart Lane outfit are said to be on the lookout for some new defensive reinforcements this summer as there are question marks hanging over the futures of both Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul, who could be on their way out of the club after some less than convincing performances this term.

However, much of what happens with Tottenham’s transfers will depend on who they install as manager over the summer after they confirmed that Tim Sherwood would not be taking over the role on a full-time basis.

Spurs’ Technical Director Franco Baldini is believed to be keen on Knoche and on continuing his policy of bringing in talented young players from around Europe, though that approach did not yield great results last summer.
