The Bernabeu side are willing to listen to offers for the 26 year old as they clear the way for their top two summer transfer targets, Man City’s Sergio Aguero and Liverpool goal machine Luis Suarez, but they are after £40m for the French international.

Benzema has been a virtual ever present under Carlo Ancelotti, benefiting from the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli, and has worked well as part of a three man attack with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale providing excellent support from wide areas.

The former Lyon man has scored 24 goals in all competitions but if Real Madrid are to bring in a high-profile striking addition he may well feel he is not valued by the Spanish giants.

Arsenal, PSG and Man United are also said to be keen on the powerful front-man who Jose Mourinho knows well from his three seasons in charge of the La Liga outfit.

Chelsea desperately need to bring in a prolific figurehead to effectively lead the Blues attack and Benzema may be the right man for the job and could certainly do no worse than the likes of Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o who have scored a combined total of 18 goals in 66 appearances.

Benzema has racked up 111 goals in 231 appearances for Real Madrid since his £30m move to the Spanish capital in June 2009.
