Spurs had initially been keen to bring Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal on board, but reports recently have suggested that they have lost out to Manchester United as he has agreed a deal in principle to take over at Old Trafford after the World Cup this summer.
Pochettino has been at the forefront of the Londoners’ thoughts ever since they decided to replace Tim Sherwood at the end of the season despite awarding him an 18-month contract in December.
