Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has recently been strongly linked with a growing interest in Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana but the Daily Mail today reports that another St Mary’s star is also on the Anfield radar.

Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren has been in excellent form in his first season in the English top tier, more than justifying the £8m outlay the Saints forked out, but now the tough tackler could be set to make a swift exit with Rodgers said to be keen on landing the former Lyon man.

Though clearly Liverpool have had no issues finding the back of the net this season it appears keeping a clean sheet is an all together tougher task for the Merseyside outfit.

Indeed despite sitting top of the table Rodgers has seen his defence concede more goals than a host of other Premier League sides, including Southampton, and a move to bring in another centre-back would be a sensible one to pursue.

Martin Skrtel has been rock solid, putting in a seemingly endless supply of last ditch crunching tackles, but both Kolo Toure and Daniel Agger has been less reliable.

Lovren has shown over the past 12 months that he is capable of making a real impact in the English top tier and may well jump at the chance of a move to Liverpool this summer.
