The 27-year-old Uruguayan publicly expressed his desire to join Arsenal last summer following Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, but the Merseyside club remained defiant and rejected a £40,000,001 bid from the Gunners.
Suarez has since settled and his form has been sensational as a result. He has provided 30 goals and 12 assists in 31 Premier League appearances this term.
Liverpool, who are guaranteed to be involved in next season’s Champions League, could win their first English league title since 1990 later this month, although they are reliant on Manchester City slipping up in one of their three remaining fixtures.
Suarez now appears to be enjoying life at Anfield and he is quoted by Sky Sports as saying: “Don’t worry – nothing is going to happen to me.”
“If we could win the Premier League and bring the trophy home it would be incredible – a dream come true.”
Suarez has over four years left to run on his current Liverpool contract.
His 81 goals in all competitions for the Reds make him level with Fernando Torres and Terry McDermott as the club’s joint-19th leading scorers of all time.
Suarez is just three goals away from moving above Albert Stubbins on the list and only 19 strikes from equaling club legend Kevin Keegan’s century.
