Check in to Crystal Palace vs Liverpool

Liverpool FC will be left red-faced if they fail to win the Premier League this season.

The Anfield outfit have already arranged a victory parade in the city for May 12 – the day after the season ends.

Recruitment firm Blue Arrow are advertising a temporary position for stewards to work at the event, which, at present, seems unlikely to go ahead.

The poorly-worded ad opens: “We are pleased to announce that we have been chosen to supply temporary stewards for the Winners Parade to take place on May 12th if Liverpool FC win the football league.”

It concludes: “If you are interested in been a part of this historic day please contact us directly on 0151 236 1536.”

The ad was posted on Friday, April 25, when Liverpool were the 1/5 favourites to win the title. However, Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, coupled with Manchester City’s victory at Crystal Palace, has seen the Reds’ odds drift to 11/8 with BetVictor.

Brendan Rodgers’ side remain top of the table, but Man City have a game in hand and will be crowned champions for the second time in three seasons if they take maximum points from their final three games – against Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham United.

Liverpool have never won the Premier League and the Merseyside outfit have not been champions of England since 1990.

The Reds have two games remaining and, realistically, they must win both to stand a chance of holding off City’s challenge.

Brendan Rodgers takes his side to Crystal Palace on Monday night, before ending the season with a home game against Newcastle United, who are currently right at the bottom of the form table.
