Barcelona star wanted back in the Premier League.
Both Manchester City and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head for popular Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas this summer as the two sides look to increase the quality of their respective midfields, according to the Metro.
The Spanish international is believed to have been made available by the defending La Liga champions at the end of the season, despite playing a considerably more involved role in their campaign this time around.
Barcelona’s below-par performances in both La Liga and the Champions League mean the club is set for an overhaul in the summer, with Fabregas among those believed to be dispensable.
United were in hot pursuit of the former Arsenal man last summer, and even had a £35m bis rejected by the Catalan giants for his services.
However, City are now strong contenders to land his signature as they look to add some depth to their midfield following the likely departure of veteran Gareth Barry, who looks set to be on his way out of the club this summer after spending the season on loan with Everton.
News of his availability could interest former club Arsenal too, though, and the 27-year-old could find himself at the centre of a three-way tug of war.
