The 36 year old forward is set to leave Galatasaray and with AS Roma also said to be keen on signing the Ivory Coast international it appears Jose Mourinho is keen to bring in the experienced marksman to boost his faltering Blues attack.

Drogba spent eight seasons at Chelsea before leaving for Shanhai back in June 2012 before moving to Istanbul in January 2013 where he has proven a real success.

The powerful forward has scored 20 goals in 50 appearances for Galatasaray but having seen his side lose their Super Lig title to Fenerbahce it appears Drogba is ready for a new challenge.

Drogba was a massive fan favourite at Chelsea and would be warmly welcomed back even though any move in playing terms would clearly be a short term one.

Didier Drogba was one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings as Chelsea boss and proved a big hit, scoring 157 goals in 341 appearances and leading the club to three Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph among a host of honours.
