The west London club were knocked out of the Uefa Champions League semi-finals 3-1 on aggregate by La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night and now the self-styled Special One is said to be determined to rebuild his team when the summer transfer window reopens for business.

And to achieve that, Mou intends to sell his coveted Brazil international to either Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich or La Liga champions FC Barcelona for a fee of £40m, with both those two European giants having tried to land Luiz in last summer’s transfer window, only for the Blues at that stage to opt to keep hold of the 27-year-old.

However, with the Chelsea boss wanting to sign Atletico Madrid front man Diego Costa for next season, he now needs to balance the books, which means allowing the shaggy-haired holding midfielder to leave west London.
