After last season’s triple disappointment, you really can’t blame Benfica’s fans for enjoying the odd celebration or two.
The Super Eagles were out in force last week following their clinching of the Portuguese league title, and they were at it again in the early hours of Friday morning as the team returned home from Turin where they dumped tournament favourites Juventus out of the Europa League to book a place in the final.
An enormous crowd welcomed the players and coaches back to Lisbon and lit flares to guide their tour bus back to their hotel.
Most players were probably fast asleep on the coach journey, but midfielder Salvio, who will miss the final after picking up a late yellow card in the clash, filmed the welcome from fans on his phone and posted it online.
