The 25 year old has made just two Premier League starts this season and it’s therefore no surprise he would be considering his options and a move to Anfield may prove very tempting for the adaptable defender.

Whilst Liverpool have found scoring goals easy enough this term they have been incredibly leaky at the back and the fact that Richards can play across the back, in both central defensive and full-back roles, will certainly provide boss Brendan Rodgers with some much needed strength in depth.

Richards is into his ninth season in the Man City first team set-up and has 244 appearances for the club to his name but the fact he has been unable to seat Pablo Zabaleta from his preferred right-back slot has led to him becoming nothing more than a bit-part player at the Etihad Stadium.

One imagines it wouldn’t take a massive offer to convince Man City to sell Richards and a move to re-ignite his career could aid his push for a return to the England national team picture.
