Incoming Man United boss Louis van Gaal has identified Bayern Munich wide-man Arjen Robben as his first Old Trafford target according to The Sun.

Dutch national team coach is apparently set to be named as the permanent successor to sacked boss David Moyes and no doubt has a number of targets in mind as he sets about putting his stamp on the Man United squad he inherits from the Scot.

30 year old Robben would appear to have no good reason to consider leaving the Allianz Arena this summer. The former Chelsea man is experiencing a great deal of success at the Bavarian outfit, securing a treble last term before securing a Bundesliga title this season in record time.

The talented attacker has been a massive success since moving to the German giants in August 2009, scoring 88 goals in 164 appearances, but could perhaps be open to a fresh challenge.

Robben only signed a contract extension last month which ties him to Bayern Munich until 2017 and as such it would take a big fee to land the player.

Man United would do well to freshen up their wide-attacking options with the likes of Nani, Ashley Young and Luis Antonio Valencia failing to impress this season.
