The 35 year old defender is yet to be offered a new Old Trafford deal but has made it clear he feels he has the legs to continue playing at the highest level, stating in a recent inteview;

“I feel fit, I feel healthy, I feel good. I’m enjoying my football so I’ll definitely be playing on for another year, hopefully two or three more. But I’ll take it year by year and hopefully another year.

“I’m happy here, I love playing my football. United’s been great for me, it’s enabled my dreams to come true and a lot of the things in football for me.

“So I have to respect whatever decision the club do, and I’ll do what’s best by the club.”

Man United signed Ferdinand from Leeds United in July 2002 and the centre-back has been a reliable performer who has picked up a host of honours including six Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph whilst racking up 444 appearances for the club in the process.

The chance to reunite with his former Hammers boss Harry Redknapp may well aid QPR’s push to sign Ferdinand but the Loftus Road side will have to safely negotiate a patch through the Championship play-offs and into the Premier League before such a move becomes a possibility.
