Tottenham winger Andros Townsend could be set to leave White Hart Lane according to the Sunday Mirror claiming that the England international could be on his way to Southampton this summer.

The 22 year old is apparently set to be offered to the Saints in a part-exchange offer for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana.

The White Hart Lane wide-man is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that has ruled him out of Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup finals squad and whilst the youngster has impressed on occasions this term on the whole his form has been patchy to say the least.

Spurs chairman wants to bring in new additions when the transfer window re-opens but will look to balance the books with player sales and Townsend is one of a number of player who could be sacrificed with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Nacer Chadli also linked with exits whilst Brazilian Paulinho could also leave after falling out with boss Tim Sherwood.

Levy invested upwards of £100m in Tottenham’s squad last summer, albeit mainly covered by the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, and has seen his side move no nearer a return to the top four and as such is understandably reticent about spending large sums again.
